Status Part time, for a two-year period.

Hours of work 20 hours per week including evening and weekend work.
Salary £8,500 - £9,000 p.a. pro rata (based on a 20 hour week)  depending on qualifications and experience.
Terms
  • Five weeks holiday plus Bank Holidays pro-rata.
  • Car mileage allowance or reimbursement of public transport costs where work is located away from main place of work.
  • Other reasonable expenses (postage, telephone, stationery,) reimbursed as appropriate.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of a three month probation.
Main purpose

(i) To build and maintain effective relationships with families that have some association with BCMC in order to strengthen their relationships with BCMC.

(ii)To support existing volunteers and Minister in meeting social and spiritual needs of Young People and their families including Community Groups using or associated with BCMC.

Main tasks

(i) Establish relationships with family and community groups: Brigade waiting list parents, Brigade parents, Sparks parents, Mother & Toddler Group and selected Community Groups using Church premises providing a link between groups and the church.

 

(ii) Identify local community spiritual/social needs – parents of Church Group children (as at (i) above), Mother &Toddler Group, target groups using premises, Raglan/ Special Branch parents. Identify potential for BCMC to meet those needs.

 

(iii) Undertake pastoral visits with families as agreed with Minister.

 

(iv) Support for those running Youth/Children’s Groups above. e.g. leading devotions, encouraging participation in worship, administration, organising social events.

 

(v) Support for Special Branch and (currently suspended) Flying Squad after school club, which offer good potential for community outreach.

 

(vi) Initiate holiday activities/ club for young people.

 

(vii) Support of and participation in Church activities as appropriate.

 

(viii) Regular attendance at Sunday worship.

 

(ix) Investigate potential for 20-40 House Group.

 

(x) Attendance at Children’s and Youth Work Team Meetings, Brigade Leader and Church Council meetings and at meetings to plan worship – particularly family and parade services.

Other responsibilities (i) To build and maintain effective relationships with children and young people and their parents.

(ii) To support the engagement of young people and families with the church, and encourage commitment to Christ.

(iii) To ensure that Health and Safety guidelines are followed.

(iv) To keep the Minister and other key contacts (BB and GB Captains/Leaders, Church Council) informed about activities/initiatives as appropriate.

(v) To undertake other duties as directed by the Line Manager.
